Open letter to the CAQ government

I congratulate you on obtaining a large majority in the last provincial elections.  But you must not forget that you were elected to represent every resident of our province.  Your government takes advantage, not only of this majority, but of the surpluses you have inherited. There is nothing very democratic when you change your own law on the rights of persons so that you also will not have to face the Courts.

You propose a law regulating the taxi business by legalizing what was illegal.  It was the government that determined that permits were required, so, if you wish to abolish this law, then you should pay the full cost to permit holders -- or change your proposal.

Now you are changing the law on the rights of persons, and (keeping) the waiver clause so that you do have to face the courts.  I would definitely defy this legislation.  It is the State and not the person that should be secularised. Whether a person is wearing a scarf or not does affect her efficiency. This is racism and discrimination. 

You also show (a lack of) judgement when you propose to build new schools, hospitals and residences for older people -- when we cannot fill the positions needed in these institutions.  I suggest you should  attract competent personnel, offer more training and improve working conditions before building new facilities.

You promised to be receptive to the everyday working person. I certainly hope that you will work at fulfilling  the most important promise you made – to be receptive to the needs of the population and to insure they are well represented.
