LETTER
Often we despair, yet sometimes we are given hope
On Saturday afternoon, I drove into Aylmer, regretfully noting a large and sordid mass of well-aged garbage tipped out of someone's green bin, spilling onto the footpath and surely destined to be assaulted by ravens and tripped over by unsuspecting pedestrians.
At the same time on Sunday, I again drove the same way into Aylmer, this time to see a noble and selfless community member who, having pulled over his mini-van, no doubt to the protests of his lovely and exasperated family ("Dad! Please!"), steadily, doggedly, was collecting those millions of little bags of disgusting household refuse and replacing them into the righted green bin in time for pick-up the next day.
God bless you, mysterious unsung hero of the mini-van, for your action made without expectation of renumeration or recogition.
I saw you and my hat is off to you.
