New structures for Saint-Malo Park

Saint-Malo Park in the affluent Park Champlain neighbourhood will welcome new play structures in the coming weeks. This summer, Gatineau inked an $18,500 contract with the Quebec City based firm Équipements Récréatifs Jambette inc to provide the structures and to install them.

Primarily frequented by Park Champlain residents, the park, located between Robert-Pilon and Saint-Malo Streets, is divided in two. The western segment proposes a more natural-setting while the eastern portion is where the play structures are located.

Created through the collaboration of residents and the city back in 2009, the park remains the only one in the neighbourhood and is cherished by many. Unfortunately, the park suffered an important setback last year when hundreds of trees infested by the emerald ash borer were cut down. However, many new trees, including a Maackia Amurensis, were planted and the city is taking care of them.
