New residents’ association:
Émile-Zola Park gets its own voice
A new residents’ association for the Émile-Zola neighbourhood, (ACÉZ), has been under organization since September 2017, launched by citizens living near Émile-Zola Park. The group held its first annual general meeting May 29, 2018, at the Cavaliers School. Currently, seven members make up its board of directors. The association’s goals include giving residents a voice in the sector and the city, and to set up activities to build a neighbourhood spirit.
The community group is seeking volunteers, especially for committees on the development of public spaces, public transportation, and neighbourhood safety. The association hopes to hold its first neighbourhood festivity toward the end of this summer.
‘’We want an association to better defend and voice the interests of the residents and also to foster a community spirit,’’ noted Alain Desroches, president. Several members have pointed to the success of other residential groups within Aylmer as models for their own ambitions.
The association can be contacted through social media or its website.
