New parking signs on Voltaire Street
Parking regulations on Voltaire Street, near Connaught and Rivermead park-and-rides, was officially modified at the last municipal council meeting held on August 30. This modification follows complaints from Aylmerites. Voltaire Street is located north-west of the Aylmer Road and Rivermead intersection.
“Residents living near Rivermead park-and-ride regularly complain that they are invaded all day long by public transportation users that can’t find a parking space at the Connaught and Rivermead park-and-rides and therefore park their cars on neighbouring streets. Specifically, for Voltaire Street, many complaints were lodged and almost all the residents signed a petition asking that parking be limited to two hours on one side of the street. And that is what will be accepted,” explains Richard Bégin, Deschênes District Councillor. “I have supported the residents since the beginning and I am happy to see that we have come to the same conclusion, which I approved a few days ago.”
Park-and-rides are free temporary parking spaces for STO users so that they can take the bus for their commutes. Rivermead park-and-ride has 507 spaces while Connaught has 300.
