New jobs at the STO

To keep up with the demand, the STO is creating 14 new positions. During the February 28 council meeting, the board adopted a resolution to create 13 regular positions with the maintenance division and one business intelligence position for the information resource department.

STO Chairwoman, Myriam Nadeau, confirmed that the creation of the new maintenance jobs is linked to the STO’s willingness to acquire new buses in coming years. The STO currently has 310 buses, 202 of which are regular buses.

“We also want to ensure our whole fleet is on the road to serve our riders. We’ve been experience an increase in ridership and to avoid maximum capacity on buses, we strive to have all our buses on the road,” stated Nadeau.

The STO’s popularity is not letting up. In comparing January 2018 to January 2019, the STO noticed a 7.6% increase in sales.
