New information signs along Principale and Eardley Road

A dozen signs informing pedestrians about the history of Old Aylmer were placed along Principale Street and Eardley Road, October 10.

A collaborative effort of the Aylmer Heritage Association, the Ville de Gatineau and Audrey Bureau, the funds that paid for these signs came out of the city’s pockets as well as the discretionary budget of the Aylmer District Councillor.

Ms Bureau, who has also invested money from her discretionary budget for the sidewalk frescoes on Principale Street and the fresco that will occupy the large wall of the water filtration plant at the marina, indicated that she intends to continue investing in the promotion of the history of the area.

These posters help people learn about historical institutions such as École St-Paul and the Great Fire of 1921.
