New fire station at corner of Vanier & McConnell: Public consultation in June
Sophie Demers
The consultation concerns a proposed bylaw amending Zoning bylaw number 532-2020 in order to authorize the use “Fire protection and related activities” in zone Co-14-092, in the Deschênes electoral district. This will allow for the construction of a new fire station.
The zone subject to the proposed zoning amendment is located at the intersection of chemin McConnell and chemin Vanier.
The public consultation meeting will take place June 28 at 6 p.m. at the Maison du citoyen, located at 25 Laurier Street (Hull sector). The consultation is open to all eligible voters with an interest in the proposal.
During the public meeting, a member of the Planning Advisory Committee will explain the proposal and the effects they anticipate. It will also be an opportunity for residents and organizations to voice their opinions on the project.
The project contains provisions that are subject to referendum approval. This means that citizens can oppose the changes if they wish to do so. After the consultation, a public notice will be published inviting eligible voters to make a request to open a registry and specifying the referendum procedure.
The proposal can be consulted at all times, before the day of the public consultation, at the City clerk's office, located at the Maison du citoyen (25 Laurier Street, 5th floor), from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about the proposal, residents can contact the clerk’s office by calling 819-243-2345, ext. 7188.
