City Council approval:

New daycares in Aylmer and the Plateau

At the municipal council meeting in Aylmer,  May 14, several proposals were made and approved by council regarding the implementation, authorization and construction of various daycare services in the Plateau and Aylmer area.

In Aylmer, the demolition of the building at 74 Front Street was approved to build a new daycare centre that could accommodate 80 children in the vicinity of Front Park.

In Deschênes, the daycare at 1244 Aylmer Road was authorized to add 11 more places, increasing its total to 20 children, under condition that the facilities are also enlarged.

In the Plateau district, a new building that will house two childcare services has been approved at 215 boulevard d’Amsterdam. These daycare centres will accommodate 80 children each for a total of 160,  and will be located across from the new Amsterdam Park that will be under construction this summer. 

The Amsterdam Street project will strive to preserve as many trees as possible since they represent an important feature of the site. 

According to Le Plateau’s councillor, Maude Marquis-Bissonnette, these additions correspond with the population growth in the western part of the city: “The area is very attractive for young families and therefore the number of daycare services must increase to meet their needs.”
