New community association
Friends of the Aylmer Marina awaiting approval
The Friends of the Aylmer Marina Association has requested legal standing from the city’s sports and recreation department. Theoretically, everything should be approved during the month of June, said Jean-François Lacombe, who established the group in January 2017. He noted that all the required documents have been submitted to the city.
Once granted official status, the Friends of the Aylmer Marina will be able to hold its first general meeting to elect a Board of Directors and set its community priorities. The interim board is seeking volunteers for the board and members in general. The group will join the many community associations now active in Gatineau.
The Friends was initiated to represent the needs and interests of this neighbourhood to the City and to foster a community spirit across the Parc des Cèdres and Marina areas.
The Association is planning a barbecue and garage sale in the coming weeks.
