New businesses breathe fresh life to Aylmer
In the past year, a dozen new businesses are now calling Aylmer home. Restaurants, pharmacies and even a new children’s playground have joined the local business community. Aylmer is clearly rebounding from the loss of important economic players, and in a big way.
This revival is visible in the Galeries Aylmer where Zigazoom is attracting its fair share of customers. Since it opened, the play centre has helped generate much needed traffic in the new section of the mall. The forthcoming and anticipated hardware store should also help boost traffic in the mall.
Outside Galeries Aylmer, the splendid new British Pub is certainly helping to increase traffic on Aylmer’s rue Principale. Slowly becoming the street’s focal point, the British and all that it encompasses, is helping bring people to Aylmer’s core. The recently opened restaurant Antonyme is also helping in that vein.
Steadily acquiring a good reputation, the restaurant at the corner of Frank Robinson and rue Principale is certainly a welcome addition to Old Aylmer’s rich offering as is L’As des jeux. The new Front Street Asian fusion restaurant Urasie, Le Coin du Capitaine and Ferme Rouge are also contributing in boosting Aylmer’s dynamic scene.
These new restaurants may well be contenders in the many Best of Aylmer restaurant categories next year. The same can be said about the new Vietnamese restaurant on Belmont Street called Île Pho, which will likely get votes in the International Cuisine category.
Not far from the Vietnamese restaurant, several new health establishments opened on Aylmer Road inside the state-of-the-art medical centre. Representing a noteworthy investment for Aylmer, the Carrefour santé Aylmer will, besides providing important services to residents, help engender economic spinoffs for the area.
A real change to the landscape has been the Vanier Road axis with des Allumetières. The new businesses there, such as Studio Motion, offer Aylmerites added variety to an established business landscape. The area features Maison Bisson and Tutti Fruiti as anchors. Many new stores also opened north of Allumetières, such as Maxi and A&W, and more are to come.
These businesses and others, such as the Proxim pharmacy beside Marché Laflamme, Rouge Vape and Passion coiffure & esthétique in Place Lavigne, Vapertown in Glenwood Plaza, have determined that Aylmer is the best place to do business.
With so many new businesses in Aylmer, here are a few more names: École de conduite Pontiac, École de conduite Pro-Cam, Jars Mode et Les Jardins du Souvenir.
