National election poll shows broad support for climate measures
The latest Abacus nationwide poll explored opinions about what should be included in a plan to combat climate change. The results showed:
At the top of the list of “must haves” : vehicle pollution standards, investments in renewable energy, incentives to spur clean technology innovation, and phasing out the use of coal for energy.
More than 90% also feel that a plan to reduce emissions should include incentives to help people buy and use EVs, spending to expand public transit, and cleaner fuel regulations.
A price on pollution (ie, a carbon tax), 34% said this must be in, another 44% said it should be part of an emissions reduction plan.

NOTE: Mr Anderson’s letter included many more subjects supported by a national majority in this polling: pricing pollution, incentives to purchase electric vehicles, investment in and expanding of public transit, cleaner fuel standards, and tighter vehicle-pollution manufacturing codes for a few. Abacus’ website also posts the entire letter. - Editor
