Music in our own backyard

 

 We have had in Aylmer for almost 2 years now a great ballroom style orchestra of over 50 musicians established by teacher and Maestro, Denise Simard. They are called LE GRAND ORCHESTRE GRANDE RIVIÈRE. The orchestra is composed of her former students at Ecole Secondaire Grande-Rivière in Aylmer where she has taught since 1976. They will perform their second summer concert on June 8 in the auditorium of the Cégep de l’Outaouais, boul Cité des Jeunes at 7:30 pm with a rich repertoire of descriptive music. Out of this great orchestra, a Big Band was also born, dedicated to Jazz and swing music. They have been voted for the second year in a row as the favourite in the Bulletin’s annual Best of Aylmer contest.
