Municipal elections 2017:
Ward 1 has its first candidate, Audrey Bureau
It’s clear Audrey Bureau has politics in her blood. Daughter of former Mayor Marc Bureau, Ms Bureau announced her candidacy for the Ward 1 council seat, November 10, in the coming municipal election of November 2017.
“District 1 was a natural choice for me; it’s the ward I am the most attached to. It’s the district where I do my shopping, where I go to the marina, where I do my jogging, and the district where there are important challenges that will be determinant for the Aylmer sector in coming years,” said Bureau, who lives in Ward 2 at its boundary with Ward 1.
Ms Bureau refrained from commenting on Josée Lacasse’s past work as councillor for Ward 1; she preferred to keep her specific projects and goals under wraps until she has heard from the residents of the ward. She did acknowledge well-known files for Aylmer, such as the library, development on rue Principale and improving public transit, but said the residents have to make their wishes known first.
A young professional who works on Parliament Hill, Bureau is a member of the Quebec Bar and is involved in various associations, such as the Boucher Forest Foundation, Regional Association of West Quebecers, Enviro Éduc-Action, and several other groups and efforts.
