MTQ says Highway 148 work between Maple and Terry Fox on schedule
The MTQ aims to launch a call for tender to rebuild and reconfigure the 148 between Terry Fox and Maple Road at the end of 2015 or early in 2016. Before doing so, the MTQ needs to wait for Hydro Québec to relocate the hydro polls as the road will be reconfigured.
“Construction work will be carried out next year and this is what has always been projected; we are following the calendar. There’s isn’t a delay and nothing out of the ordinary has come up,” said Karine Sauvé, MTQ regional spokesperson. “There was another project on the 148 between Maple Road and Breckenridge, but that was just paving and that’s complete.”
The work planned for the 148 between Terry Fox and Maple Road Roads is more elaborate and includes the road’s
reconfiguration. The work is scheduled to start by spring 2016. “There’s a problem with the configuration and the goal is to make the road safer.”
During his election campaign, Pontiac MNA André Fortin promised to improve the gateway to the Pontiac. He said repairing the 148, between Aylmer and Luskville, was necessary for the region’s economic development.
