LETTER
More condos: on Indigenous lands
I am asking your readers to sign a petition to oppose the violation of Indigenous rights by our federal, municipal, and provincial governments who support a condo/retail development (Windmill Corp.) in the heart of what is now Ottawa/Gatineau - upon a significant Algonkin site within unceded territory. Our Elder, Grandfather William Commanda, rallied to have it reclaimed for the benefit of all for the last 30 years of his life.
Grandfather’s vision is regenerated parkland and a Cultural, Educational and Healing Centre owned and operated by the Algonquin First Nations. He was made many promises by the colonial players, but the land was "sold".
Please spread the word about this and ask people to sign. The deadline is Oct. 25.
