Moisson Outaouais-Food Drive resumes after being cancelled twice last year

On the weekend of Saturday November 13, Moisson Outaouais hosted a two-day food drive for non-perishable food items throughout seven grocery stores in the Hull and Aylmer Sector. Volunteers of the Moisson Outaouais collected monetary and food donations from the participating stores.
The stores that participated in the event were Metro Plus Montée Paiement, Metro Plus Gréber, Metro Plus Kelly-Maloney, Metro Plus Cité-des-jeunes, IGA Extra Faille Plante, IGA Extra Grenier-Fortin, and Metro Plus Kelly-Wilfred Lavigne.
“The rise in the cost of food has a major impact on people living food insecurity. They find themselves making a heartbreaking choice when it’s time to go to the grocery store. This increase is done in food banks, because we have to tap into our reserves in order to meet demand,” explained Armand Kayolo, General Manager of Moisson Outaouais.
The items donated will be equally distributed among 49 affiliated organizations and will be appreciated by the 16,000 people who are relying on food aid services. “This is why our collection of food this year becomes even more important in this busy period. It's a great opportunity to come together again in the company of our volunteers since this collection had to be cancelled twice last year,” added Kayolo.
In addition, the Moisson Outaouais is asking the community for its contributions through donations during the months of December and January. Donations can be made at the participating grocery stores which are listed above. Items in high demand are soft bars, cereals, oatmeal, jam, peanut butter, canned tuna, food and baby products.
