Message from Pontiac deputy, André Fortin
I was at the Hull Hospital this morning, February 24, to support the Pontiac residents gathered to protest against the 6-month closure of the obstetrics service. I am proud of the respectful way in which Pontiacers held their protest, which was meant to remind the two government Ministers on-site that this closure has to be temporary and that our nurses’ salaries must be increased if we want to keep them in the Pontiac rather than lose them to Ontario. While I thank the CISSS Director who met some of the participants, it was certainly disappointing to all of us that both Ministers refused to grant even a few minutes to the Pontiac residents who had just travelled a few hours to see them.
