Denis Tassé promises improvements “that we’re being charged for now”!

Citing his hands-on experience of three terms as city councillor for the Touraine ward in Gatineau sector, Denis Tassé is running for mayor on a platform of “getting work done”. With his background as an entrepreneur in independent business, Denis Tassé won his council seat on promises to invest in city infrastructure. Now he is bringing this priority to the rest of the city.

“I wasn’t planning to run for mayor, but I see in person there is a need for Gatineau to have a functioning mayor, with a council that works together,” Mr Tassé told the Bulletin. “Local services are in dire need, but first they need a council that can get work done.”

Tassé’s main platform goals are to put resources towards local infrastructure improvements -- clean water, street resurfacing, snow removal, helpful bus services and local libraries. “There is a dramatic problem in managing infrastructure;  Gatineau has only managed to accomplish 49% of its infrastructure goals this year. We created a city infrastructure fund, and residents are paying into it,” said Tassé. “They deserve to have the services they are already paying for, not to waste the money on new studies that look at the same issues the city has already spent money for recent studies -- such as the bus system coming into Aylmer.”

“Thirteen hundred people have been polled about their library preferences and the opinion is clear. Local libraries are overwhelmingly preferred to a big central library,” Tassé told the Bulletin. “We can renovate the building in Aylmer and scrap spending $22 million on a central library or a new one near the pool.”
