Mayor Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin will fight to keep his position in November’s election

Gatineau Mayor Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin will be defending his seat in this year’s municipal elections. He was elected Mayor in the 2013 race and previous to that was Municipal Councillor for Buckingham in 2009.

Mr Pedneaud-Jobin is a founding member of Projet Gatineau, a think tank for municipal policies. He is also the founder of Action Gatineau, the first political party to be created after the 2002 amalgamation. Currently, the party has 1,903 members, with a governing board of 11, including two elected Municipal Councillors. There are currently five municipal council seats held by Action Gatineau.

Before entering politics, Mr. Pedneaud-Jobin received a master’s degree in regional development from the Université du Québec en Outaouais. His thesis was on the relationship between the Outaouais region and Ottawa. He has worked as a regional affairs commentator with several media outlets. He then worked for five years as an assistant to the CEO of l’Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de l’Outaouais.

Mr Pedneaud-Jobin has stated that his proudest achievement to date is the role he played in reviving the Laiterie de l’Outaouais, a project that is credited with bringing this dairy business back to the region.

Also running for the Mayor’s seat is Independent Municipal Councillor in the Bellevue district Sylvie Goneau and Independent Municipal Councillor in the Tourraine district Denis Tassé.
