May 13’s construction-waste pickup postponed
Gatineau’s special collection of construction waste, scheduled for the week of May 13 in the Hull and Aylmer sectors, has been postponed to May 21 and 24. The city announced the change on May 8 due to road congestion caused by spring flooding and the large volume of construction waste that had to be picked up in both sectors.
The City notes that this pick-up concerns only bulky and construction wastes that will not fit in a garbage container. These wastes must be clearly visible at the curb, unpackaged, and stacked in an orderly manner. All nails must be bent in or removed, carpets and loose branches must be tied together, and all items must be light enough to be lifted by two people. Otherwise, they will not be picked up.
Until the next special collection, residents can bring their bulky items to the transshipment centre free of charge. Construction wastes can be brought to the city’s eco-centres, which are also free with a Gatineau residence card.
As for bulky, recyclable or reusable items such as appliances and electronics, citizens should call 311 to request a home collection. (Trans.)
