Making us afraid . . .

 

In his inaugural speech in 1933 Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “... the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Let us forget anything famously said about the history of any huge or small nation of our world.  Let us think for ourselves, from our life's experience, from our own DNA. Let us forget for just a moment the advertised surreality which appeared to be the precondition to form our thoughts, such as the grossly celebrated war of 1812 with the innocent hangings of alleged collaborators and traitors; all at the beginning of establishing a Conservative majority in the parliament.

 

My question: was it (War of 1812) already at that time instigated with the intent to initiate us to fear, or just something to celebrate?

 

History has the tendency to repeat itself so often that the future, one could assume, could be foretold: unless one thinks for himself in cooperation with one's own society, and that is the predicament of democracy.
