Major residential project on Principale studied by Gatineau

A segment of Main Street could change radically if a project to build nearly 100 units is approved by City Council.

At the August 27th council meeting, Gatineau’s municipal council will have to consider a specific building construction, modification or occupancy project (PPCMOI), which concerns 71 and 79 rue Principale, namely the British café and the British pub hotel. The project involves an expansion of 84 units to two civic addresses.

71-73 Main Street forms a 2,136 square metre lot along Parker Street between Main Street and Symmes Street while the other half of the block is divided into two lots, 79 Main Street and 49-51 Bancroft Street. The quadrilateral is owned by a company of Michael Clemann.

A PPCMOI is an exceptional measure that provides a framework for urban development on a case-by-case basis.
