Lucerne ward has a third candidate for 2017 municipal elections

Mamadou-Garanké Bah is an independent candidate running for municipal council in the Lucerne District, where he lives. Mr Bah says that with the development coming to that area in the next few years, he wants to ensure that the needs and concerns of the residents are taken into account.

Currently a federal civil servant, Mr Bah holds a master degree in research of international law and political science and a master’s degree in territorial development. Before moving to Aylmer, Mr Bah studied in Reims, France then continued his studies in Montreal.

Mr Bah has a strong background in volunteer work with associations such as the Red Cross, the Optimist Club, Moisson Outaouais and the Syrian refugee program in Montreal.

Mr Bah says that he will “first and foremost listen to the needs of the residents and consult with them about their concerns”. As a resident himself, he feels that many of those concerns will fall within the categories of road safety, environmental protection within their community and public transit.
 
Mr Bah feels that, as an independent candidate, he will have the liberty of action to address projects in a manner unconstrained by party guidelines.
 
Also running in the Lucerne district is Martin Roy with Action Gatineau and independent candidate Gilles Chagnon.
