LETTER
Local newspapers
For years it brought me many pleasures to read my local newspapers (3) because, as it says on one of them, they are your (our) independent newspapers.
There they always kept it open to all, and I am sure there will be continuity in this. We contributors to the 'letters' section present our opinions based on our experiences, our knowledge, and our views (supported or not). We expose ourselves, our views and opinions in our otherwise silent existence.
I applaud everyone and all who do it, who express his or her opinions in our community newspaper; there is no other or better way to engage and let the pulse of our community be known, and to say, “Yes, we are alive!” This is all within the framework of a community newspaper. And if here and there I may be surprised by some attitude or agenda-inspired contributions, as if there was a contest to win, there is none, no awards will be given; there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Surprised but not puzzled, I have found it often whether in 'Guest Books' from exhibitions, or even on a higher, much, much higher level and of course meaner. C'est la vie!
Our community newspaper is the light for us all; while it shines we can see, and we can be seen.
