LETTER
Listen to our children, not politicians!
We have entered another federal election full of promises from the well-financed parties, and the question is who will we vote for, and who will be working for us, on the many issues. One is promising to move forward, and another says let’s go back to yesterday. And to us on the ledge – it’s getting crowded, including those ‘disposables’ under the ‘poor’ category – how much ‘forward’ we can move before we slip from it? There is little flexibility, courage, or understanding of our reality in so many ways, on the top of accommodating our planet Earth with reasonable, responding and responsible solutions.
Those with the closest and most realistic suggestions (it seems to me, a realist) are lagging far behind the front runners and seemingly have no chance to be counted. But they are just a touch off the real solutions, so maybe we have to slip into them. Later we may realize it is too late! It may work for a while, and soon we restructure, rethink to the benefit of all – all! We’ll take the route of the proverb which suggests threading the camel thorough the eye of the needle. Possible? For a Magician!
Time to listen to our children, not speculate, no tricks to change the reality we face. We must respond to our children; it is their world. We must adopt their honesty this time. My wife Danica did it and in cooperation with her I might have done it, succeeded, and lived the life we deserved, hard but good. Have courage! After all, we are Canadians!
Rasto Hlavina,
Pontiac
