Limo service for STO
In these tough economic times, when municipalities are trying to save cash, it struck me that one way would be for Gatineau to accept the real politics of the situation and replace the existing bus service with a liveried chauffered limousine service.
Consider, at $4.00 a ticket, that $8.00 just to pop into town to buy a carton of milk from Super C, the bus service is already one only for the super rich. And thanks to such high prices, I invariably find myself being the only passenger on route 52 for the entirety of the journey.
Furthermore, with a new, costly computerized “big brother” ticketing system coming in later this year, all linked to police database, etc, not only will a prospective passenger need to be “loaded” but also be a member of the “ruling elite” to step aboard the number 59 to the Allumettières bus station.
So instead of STO burning up to $450,000 a day on diesel driving empty 3-ton monsters around the streets of Gatineau, why not give the taxpayers a break and replace them with a stretch limo service?
