Library plans not turning back -- councillors

 

The Bulletin has printed multiple letters questioning the reconstruction of Lucy-Faris library into a larger and more inclusive place in Vieux-Aylmer. We would like to thank them again (and finally) for sharing their perspectives, and we also express our gratitude to those who participated in the initial citizens' committee, which has been disbanded as the project moves to its next phase.

Soon the architectural contest will begin. The demolition of the existing building will begin late next fall 2021. The financing and the transition plan are approved, and we will not be turning back. Together we will follow the progress with great anticipation, a key piece in the revival of our historic Aylmer sector.

Let's move forward together and we'll celebrate the inauguration of this signature installation, a major jewel in Aylmer's growing crown. The information related to this project is available on the City of Gatineau website.
