Less education is better?

 

Ontario’s Doug Ford is denying kids our evidence-based sex ed curriculum – taking vital safety information out of the hands of students. It is irresponsible and dangerous to eliminate an up-to-date curriculum without providing a replacement that covers the issues that our kids will face.

Accurate, modern sex and safety education gives kids the word, concepts, and knowledge they need to defend themselves from predators and abusers. What’s worse, the curriculum doesn’t mention consent even once -- an idea that seems especially absurd in the wake of #MeToo. It also omits any discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation, leaving LGBTQ youth without any representation in their education.
