Learn to repair and preserve damaged objects on June 16

Do you have any broken objects at home?

If so, the city and the Fabrique mobile de l’Outaouais are organizing a “Repair it” workshop on Sunday, June 16, from 10 am to 3 pm at the Ernest Lattion Community Centre located at 30 Court Street in Aylmer.

More than 30 repairers will be on site to help residents repair their broken items themselves. 

In the words of the Aylmer District Councillor, “This is really a great way to gain valuable knowledge while reducing our ecological footprint by ensuring that products that can prevent landfilling stay at home. ”

The repairers’ areas of specialization are vast and residents can bring their clothes, bicycles, electronics, appliances, children’s toys and many other items to learn how to repair them.

In order to ensure priority seating, people are invited to book 30-minute time slots, either on site or by booking a ticket available on the event’s Facebook page. Registered people will have priority, but any other person who goes to the site can still participate if the repairers are not busy.

In total, more than 300 people will be able to benefit from the talents of volunteer repairers on site. Repair services are offered free of charge, but it is still possible to make a voluntary monetary contribution.

For the moment, the city and the mobile factory are organizing two “Repair events” per year, but if public appetite for this type of workshop continues to grow, Ms Bureau says she has no doubt that there could be more of them.
