Launch of the Hats Off to You! contest and its Excellence in Science segment
In order to highlight the determination and hard work of female students who have chosen to pursue a traditionally male career, the 25th edition of the Hats Off to You! contest and the 21st edition of its Excellence in Science segment were launched on January 11.
Created in 1996, the main objective of this contest is to promote the diversification of women's career choices and to encourage them to persevere in their studies until graduation. In addition, the contest recognizes women who choose a non-standard occupation, rewards their efforts, promotes the academic success of female students within a predominantly male group, and provides role models for women who wish to venture off the beaten track.
Hats Off to You! is open to women enrolled in a vocational or technical training program that leads to a career in a traditionally male-dominated occupation. The Excellence in Science segment is open to women enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Science or Technology, in one of the disciplines eligible for the contest.
Thanks to the financial contribution of the contest’s partners (there are around 20), the winners will share nearly $160,000 in scholarships.
Interested candidates must submit their applications on the Québec.ca website by March 5.
