Lattion Residential Complex
Controversy over Lattion 28-dwelling complex
Symco, an urban planning and development firm, has set its sights on some land on Lattion Road, near Eardley, for a residential project. The project, Domaine Lattion, is a 28-dwelling complex comprised of 14 3-bedroom, six 2-bedroom and eight 1-bedroom units. This complex is expected to count 35 residences per hectare, near a public transit zone. It is situated near the Ottawa river and the cycling paths. The developers also wish to install charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles in the parking area.
There are delays in the deadlines set at the beginning. In order to start construction of the buildings, the existing triplex at 113, Lattion Road must first be demolished. “At the moment, we are experiencing a problem with the tenant at 113 Lattion Road,’’ stated a representative of Symco.
On May 14, the developers appeared before the City’s urban consulting committee, requesting the demolishion of the building at 13 Lattion Road. The request was approved; however, the tenants appealed this request.
The developers were hoping to begin the construction process of Domaine Lattion in August; however, it will be delayed. The tenants’ appeal hearing will be held on September 4, in the committee room of the Maison du citoyen. The decision on the appeal will be announced during the city council session on September 18.
