L’Initial residents raise a truckload for Saint Vincent de Paul 

Around 30 volunteers of the Initial retirement complex, at 300 Boulevard Wilfrid-Lavigne, gathered at the reception with 12 Super C carts, their Santa hats, bells and pails to collect food and money for the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul’s annual food drive.

On December 1 at 10 am, residents went door to door from the 2nd to the 8th floor of both the residence buildings, raising $2,215 as well as a truckload of food for the cause from their fellow residents.

One of Quebec’s first charitable organizations, started in 1848, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) offers food assistance, referrals and other support to those in need, as well as programs for scholastic perseverance and social reintegration.

When speaking with the Bulletin, Jacqueline McKnight, head of leisure and services at the residence, expressed joy at the activity’s success and wished to say, “a great big thank-you to all of the residents and volunteers for making this happen!”
