LETTER
King Dagobert
The City of Gatineau has no more Ombudsman. He had been doing as the great Saint Eloy did, who told bluntly to King Dagobert that he was wearing his pants inside out: “Oh my king, your Majesty has his breeches inside out.” Do you think that the almighty king made sure that the annoying Saint Eloy would disappear from his court? On the contrary, he acknowledged that Saint Eloy was right and offered to change things. “Indeed,” the king told him,”I’m going to put them right side out”.
I suggest City Council members stop looking for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and check out the definition of Ombudsman, protector of the citizen, so they might realize that they are the ones wearing their pants inside out and that they have just deprived themselves of their best ally to have a check-and-balance over the City Administration, with respect to citizens’, taxpayers’ and electors’ expectations, requests and complaints.
