Kinder Morgan bailout not supported
I am very disappointed in the stand the Liberal government has taken on the Kinder Morgan pipeline. I cannot believe the Prime Minister is suggesting that taxpayer's dollars will be invested in this pipeline to prop up this project and take on the risk that should rest with the company.
Contrary to the messaging being used by the government, many Indigenous groups along the pipeline route are opposed to the pipeline. Those that have signed agreements are simply saying that if the pipeline does proceed, they should not be excluded from benefits.
Yes, the environment and economy can go hand in hand as the government says, but building a pipeline to transport bitumen to our BC coast, risking spills and flying in the face of our climate change commitments, is not the way to do this. We should be investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency, not in oil sands infrastructure.
