Keep motorists indoors
In the natural world, there are only two predators that kill their prey without eating it afterwards, killing for sport. One is the fox, the other is the motorist. During the 20th Century, motorists killed more people than in the First World War, the Second World War plus all the world’s wars combined. The carnage on our roads has been worse in every single year than in all the world's hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes combined. And for small animals and birds, the situation is way worse, dwarfing anything caused by cats. Like other dangerous pets, the motorist is already strictly licensed. So if one really has feelings for road safety and the lives of woodland creatures, there is only one way to go -- restore the law that stood before 1895, requiring all cars to have a man with a red whistle and a flag strolling ten feet in front of it, and the bylaw in Hull (only repealed in the late 1960's) that sets a maximum limit of 13 kilometres per hour...
Or, better still, just keep this noxious pest, the motorist, indoors.
