Local Author releases “The Adventures of Tutu and Tula”: 

Jon H Gray’s first foray into children’s literature

John H. Gray, a British-born novelist who resides in Aylmer’s Wychwood neighbourhood, is celebrating the release of the first of a series of eight children’s books.

Fully illustrated by British artist Aria Jones, The Adventures of Tutu and Tula: Lost is the story of a turtle family that lives and plays in the waters of the Caribbean island of Aruba. A tale of curiosity and mischief which aims to educate children on the importance of not wandering off on their own.

The story is a first foray into the world of children’s literature for the seasoned author accustomed to writing dramas, such as Journey of Betrayals, Journey to Unknown Consequences, and Claude de Passioné.

“I needed a break from the more serious stuff, but I wanted to keep writing, so a fun story about turtles seemed like a fun compromise,” Mr Gray said when speaking with the Bulletin, adding that he was also quite happy to see “to the curiosity and wonder for wildlife” on the faces of children on the island of Aruba, his second home.

In the next year, Mr Gray plans on finishing up the final books of his children’s series, releasing a new drama called Rosita’s Way and is strongly considering a follow up to Claude de Passioné.

Before flying to Aruba for the winter, Mr Gray is set for a book signing at Aylmer’s Lucy-Faris Library on November 2. The local author will be signing and selling copies of his books as well as discussing with the public starting at 10:30 am.

The second of Tutu and Tula’s adventures, which has the turtles embark on a Christmas adventure, was sent to print on September 28, and is now also available for purchase.

All of Mr Gray’s books are available on Amazon at Barnes and Noble book stores. The Aylmer Galleries Librairie Michabou will also have the children’s books in limited quantities.
