LETTER
Issue: end of mail delivery
With the Vanier Road closure, I am no longer getting mail delivered at my door. For the last 3 weeks, I have had to get my mail at the distribution centre on rue Principale. Canada Post then gave me a “community mail box” in my area. Since the road closure, I started picking up my mail again once a week.
I thought to myself, how dare Canada Post stop home mail service!
(But now) I say, Yes, there’s a satisfaction that I am only getting junk mail once a week! Whatever bills or letters I get does not justify getting my mail delivered every day.
Like most people, I know when an important piece of mail is coming, and I'm pretty sure that by getting it only once a week, it will not cause the end of the world. Do you run to the bank or write a cheque as soon as you get a bill by mail? No, we wait a couple of days before paying it. I only run to the bank when I'm getting money back, and that can always wait a couple of days -- I get my groceries once a week, I have my car washed once a week, I even do my laundry once a week, and I'm still alive.
Damn you Canada Post for NOT stopping my home delivery sooner!
