LETTER
In response to: Government shared work spaces at the city hall building?
In her March 11th letter to the editor, Ms. Lugo states that the Ville de Gatineau is missing an opportunity by not considering developing, in partnership with the federal government, a Co-Worker’s Place at Place des Pionniers.
I would like to reassure Ms. Lugo that on several occasions since 2017, I have expressed to our federal MP, Mr. Greg Fergus, my interest in having such a space in Place des Pionniers. Mr. Duggan and Mr. Chagnon have also done the same. I also approached the Public Services and Supply Canada branch directly to try to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the new building to integrate these federal offices. For if we had had a favourable response from the federal government, it would have been entirely appropriate, in my opinion, to increase the number of floors in the future building to accommodate these Co-Working GC spaces.
The federal government and our Outaouais MPs are well aware of my desire to see such offices move to Aylmer and thus contribute to the dynamism of the Aylmer sector, stimulate the local economy, reduce traffic congestion and increase the quality of life of the sector’s workers. Ultimately, however, the decision is up to the federal government. Therefore, I would encourage Ms. Lugo and any citizen who supports this idea to share it with our federal member of Parliament.
Audrey Bureau, Councillor
for district 1, Aylmer
