LETTER
In praise of our Prime Minister
It is said: a smart man learns from his own mistakes and corrects them. This takes courage straight from the heart.
This is what we find in the rarest place, in our PM Justin Trudeau. I did not vote for him or his party, so why this? I like to give credits earned by specific actions (not for promises and lures), and for that I had to wait while they were being earned. It is the talk after the walk which fills the soul -- after the work is done.
As to the facts, what comes to mind are his actions for Indigenous People, veterans, women, and there’s his flagship, the complex negotiations for NAFTA, standing his ground and giving it the necessary time for germinating.
He continued with a most-appreciated humanitarian public apology to the Jews for Canada’s rejection of help when it was most needed. This took courage. As with Paris, on the platform of Peace Talks, our PM is breaking the ice with his talk with President Putin (contrary to our previous PM). It is the ‘talk’ which inspires me, as it is with my reflections on my work as a sculptor. The walk has to start with the talk, and finish with it.
Just maybe this is the generation to lead the world with a chance of success, to move forward! Thank you, Mr Prime Minister, this is the stuff that legends are made of!
