I miss Canadian Tire already

What is happening to our beautiful Aylmer... no more stores to shop in! 25km to get to the Plateau, and yet there’s no service at Walmart’s plants department -- cash does not work but will tomorrow. I don't want to drive 25 km again tomorrow to get a plant.  I need new cutter for my plants and trees., and have to drive again 25 km to get them — having company and wanted new sheets for my bed... again 25 km to get them — my toaster broke, another 25 km to get one — I needed new sandals for my grandson, not at $50 but at $20: not here — I needed a light bulb for my bathroom that I could use on a dimmer ... oops 25 km again. — needed a rake and hose ... 25 km again — needed seed for my garden ... 25 km again!  Where is Walmart, Zellers, Canadian Tire? 25 km away !

No wonder there are so many houses for sale in Aylmer ... we used to be a town; we are now in the country. I wonder how older people who do not drive get along with all of this.   We are now stuck in the wonderland where if you do not have money or a car you die.

NOTE: Hey, check the ads in the Bulletin: there are three nurseries within 5 minutes of the old CT.  There are plenty of stores in Aylmer. Not the cheap big-boxes — shopping in them sends your money out of Aylmer, never to return!  Shop in town, spend a little more sometimes, but your grandson may then get a summer job here. Isn’t that a better idea than saving $2 today?
