Heroin, crystal meth and cocaine seized in Aylmer
Friday, August 24, saw two drug swoops by the police in Aylmer. Four individuals were apprehended for drug trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
One of the police operations took place on Front Street with the second on Terrasse-Eardley Street. A variety of drugs were seized, including 14.5 gm of heroin, at the Front Street arrests, with a man (33 years old) and a woman (23 years old) taken to the police station.
On Terrasse-Eardley, a 28 year-old man and a 23 year-old women were taken into custody. In this case, illegal and prescription drugs were seized, with $2,000 in cash also impounded.
Between the two searches, 107.7 gm of cannabis, 11.8 gm of cocaine, 4.2 gm of hashish and a single gram of crystal meth were confiscated.
The Gatineau police (SPVG) had conducted a two-month investigation prior to these arrests. The entire file has now been submitted to the Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales, taking it out of SPVG hands. The four individuals could face charges of drug trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
Only one individual was held in detention until his court appearance. The other three were released a few hours after their arrest with a promise to appear.
