Hasty Spring, what are you hiding?
Since 2000, we saw warmer weather, more storms, fires and floods. The oceans and melting permafrost released extra greenhouse gases. Sea levels rose: in Florida, high tides push sea water and fish onto the streets. Warm weather dried up soils and crops failed. The number one threat to the global economy according to 750 economists is global warming.
Solar and wind energy are growing exponentially. Storage batteries are improving. Rich and poor countries alike are adopting green technology and its cost is declining fast.
The right choices must be implemented now to free our children from more chaos. Smart oil companies are already investing in green technologies. They should do just that and not expand fossil fuel production even if extraction and
transportation were 100% safe. Life must come first.
Secondly, moving our industries abroad caused us to lose many jobs and lots of fuel is required to bring back the merchandise. So we should “buy local” when possible. To keep that possible, the government of Canada must reneg on the TransPacific Partnership because it would allow corporations to sue us if we had “buy local” policies believed to hamper their expected profits.
Solar and wind power, energy efficiency, local economies will help save our climate. Let's do it.
