Green power includes stockpiling nuclear waste?
I read J-P Murray's letter on MP Sophie Chatel's "green plan" and Gatineau Park's poorly defended status with a lot of interest, mainly because Ms Chatel's "plan" (it's actually a plan for "consultations") also failed to include the Chalk River project to dump tonnes of radioactive waste within a km of the Ottawa River. Why is this a "green" issue you may ask, and I am sure she would give the standard Liberal Party response: nuclear power is an alternative to fossil fuel - produced energy. No mention of the billions of dollars required to store the wastes! Nothing about the dangers of transporting nuclear waste! Why are the Liberals twisting themselves into pretzels to defend nuclear power and radioactive waste production? I wish I knew. Maybe the word, "billions" gives us a clue.
