LETTER
Great Egrets at the Deschênes Rapids
August 2 is “Wednesday
of the Great Egret” at the Deschênes Rapids. This invitation by the Club
des ornithologues de l’Outaouais (COO) is open to all. For our seventh
summer, this weekly outing has for its purpose to observe and number
Great Egrets as they return for the night in their heronry and dormitory
(on Conroy Island) in the rapids. We’ll be at the belvedere along the
biking path. Your expert, Rodolphe Dubois, with your help, will ensure
missing nothing of what’s going on. The rapids at sunset, these elegant
white wading birds -- and the many other birds on the move -- will give
an impressive show. An activity for all ages.
Rendez-vous: 6 pm at Rapides Deschênes parking (south end of Vanier
road in Aylmer sector). We’ll stay until around 8:30. We speak English.
For information about our activities (mostly open to everyone), contact
the Club at our website www.coo.qc.ca.
