City Election 2017
Gilles Chagnon to run for council in Ward Two
A 26-year employee of Canada Post, Aylmer native Gilles Chagnon plans to run for council in Ward Two, keeping his commitment to the community as a long-time volunteer. “When I had a young family, I served on the parent councils of Trois-Portages and Grande-Rivière. In 2007, I became a school trustee, and still am for Ward One.” Mr Chagnon sits on several school board committees, attending meetings every week.
As President of the annual “Builder for One Day” event, he says it offers youth an acquaintance with careers in construction. “We wanted to show kids that the trades offer a good career.”
“As a member of the CSPO board, I helped get a gym for l’Ecole du Village and to certify the school as an International School. If young adults can say that they have attended an International School, that just might be what helps them get a good job.”
“I am putting my hat in the ring because I want to make a difference. I’ll work with all levels of government to get things done. MNA Charlotte l’Écuyer worked with me on the gym, and MNA André Fortin worked with us for the coming synthetic soccer field at Grande-Rivière.”
