Gatineau woman stopped for selling marijuana to minors
On February 21, the Service de Police de la Ville de Gatineau (SVPG) arrested a 48-year-old woman who was selling and distributing illegal cannabis products to minors.
According to SVPG spokesperson Andree East, the raid took place in apartment 1 of 161 rue Gouin in Gatineau and the location was also a site for cannabis consumption.
Overall, officers seized nearly 285 grams of dried cannabis, four packets of wax, 73.5 grams of hashish, gummies that police will test for THC and a bit more than $2,000 in Canadian cash.
Criminal accusations related to possession, sale and distribution of cannabis have been delivered to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP).
East explained that police had been investigating the residence for around a month, after they received several tips from concerned residents that it was home to suspicious activity.
Following the arrest, the perpertrator was taken to the Gatineau Police Station where she met with investigators and promised to appear in court at a later date.
An investigation is ongoing, East said.
While consumption of recreational cannabis is legal, sale and distribution of it outside of the Society Quebecoise de Cannabis (SQDC) are against the law.
Selling to minors is equally prohibited, which was the biggest cause for concern in this case, East said.
