Multi-ice complex in the West
Gatineau to issue calls for tenders within a few weeks
Things are going well for the construction of an ice rink in the Plateau sector. The City would soon have finalized an agreement with a private landowner in the district, according to TVA Gatineau-Ottawa in a report dated March 27.
According to their information, the preferred site is located just behind the Canadian Tire, near Boulevard du Plateau. The President of the Commission des loisirs, des sports et du développement communautaire, Martin Lajeunesse, does not wish to confirm the information at this time. He pointed out that the City’s services are currently in negotiations with various stakeholders in the community.
The file will be presented to all municipal councillors in early May. It is at this point that the board “will give its approval,” says Mr Lajeunesse. Tendering will follow shortly thereafter.
In December, the City announced its intention to build a multi-ice complex in the West. At that time, the City announced that the land behind D’Arcy-McGee Park had been included in the plans.
This option was quickly rejected since the area is a wetland, which would complicate and lengthen construction work.
