Gatineau’s “cash cows”
The Gatineau Police department just got back to me regarding my request for information. In a one-year period, 1,382 speeding tickets were issued along Boul. Alexandre-Tache (Hull). The total revenue generated by these speeding tickets for the City in this one-year period is $184,618 – over $500 a day is generated on this one street alone? Obviously officers hiding in the shadows, with their unmarked cars and radar guns mean a Big Pay Day for the City of Gatineau on this particular street.
The school zone should be marked better with larger, more prominent signs and larger flashing lights – but why would the City want to jeopardize this cash cow, a street of gold? The street with the most speeding tickets issued in the City, between January 2017 and 2018, is Boulevard des Allumettieres, another cash cow.
I will bring these facts up while in court fighting my unjust speeding ticket, a 60k in a 30k, $280 fine -- that’s a half day of work for the Boulevard Tache.
