Gatineau Police (SPVG) are asking residents for help in identifying a man who committed two robberies. The first took place on February 24 around 9 am in a pharmacy located at 378 Maloney Boulevard East, in the Gatineau sector. The second occurred at the same pharmacy on March 1 around 6 pm.
In the first robbery, the thief entered the pharmacy and went to the prescription counter demanding cash and tablets of a narcotic painkiller. He threatened the victim and told him he had a firearm in his pocket. The man was wearing an olive green coat with a blue-gray hoodie and a red-orange logo on the front, brown boots with white soles, and black gloves.
During the second robbery, the thief went behind the pharmacy counter and filled his backpack with medication. He was wearing a dark-coloured coat with a white logo on the right sleeve, and a blue-gray hooded sweater. He was also wearing brown boots with white soles and black pants and was carrying an “element” branded backpack.
During both events, the man quickly left the scene on foot and was caught on surveillance cameras. The thefts totalled thousands of dollars. The thief is a French-speaking white man, approximately 5ft 7in tall (1.70 meters) and weighs about 170 lb (77kg). He is of medium build.
The SPVG asks anyone with information that could identify this individual to call the info line at 819 243-4636, extension 5.
